The catalase enzyme is used to degrade the hydrogen peroxide residues after bleaching process into oxygen.
2H2O2
2H2O+O2
In the past practices, the methods of neutralization with sodium triosulfate, sodium bi-sulfate or rinsing with water were applied for cleaning the peroxide residues after the bleacing process. In the recent years, more difinite neutralization process is performed by using the catalase enzyme. The process duration is reduced by use of enzyme after bleaching and water and energy saving is achieved as no rinsing is required.
